Your Typical Day at fonQ… 

9:00  – Stand-Up Meeting Your day begins with a quick stand-up meeting with the tech team, where you discuss project updates, any roadblocks, and your priorities for the day. 

9:30  – Coding and Development After the stand-up, you dive into coding, whether it’s developing a new feature or refining an existing one. 

11:00 – Stakeholder Meeting Mid-morning, you join a meeting with stakeholders to gather more details on a new requirement or clarify specs on an ongoing project. 

12:00Lunch Break Unlimited and very affordable lunch. What’s more, you can enjoy it on our rooftop terrace!  

13:30Code Review and Feedback After lunch, you review and provide feedback on code written by other team members. 

15:00  – Troubleshooting and Production Support Later, you troubleshoot any production issues that might have popped up, working with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations. 

16:30  – Wrap-Up and Planning for Next Day The day wraps up with a final check on any outstanding tasks and preparing priorities for the next day. 

Job requirements

Your key responsibilities include but not limited to…

  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications;

  • Participate in the design of robust software applications;

  • Conduct code reviews, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability;

  • Document technical specifications, workflows, and best practices;

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in production and test environments.

Our new colleague will have an...

  • Education: HBO or WO level, or you've got equivalent real-world experience in software engineering that proves you know your stuff!

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on coding in software development, especially in PHP. You’re seasoned and ready to jump right in.

  • E-commerce: Previously worked in an e-commerce company

Additionally, you will have a passion for…

  • Database Mastery: Strong in SQL databases (like MySQL or PostgreSQL) and know how to keep data flowing smoothly.

  • CI/CD: You’re comfortable with CI/CD tools and pipelines, handling testing, deployment, and monitoring like a pro.

  • SOLID Design Principles: You understand SOLID principles for object-oriented design and apply them to create clean, efficient code.

  • Cloud Skills: GCP (or AWS) isn’t just a buzzword to you. You know your way around services like Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, and GKE.

  • MVC Frameworks: You’ve worked with MVC frameworks (Yii2, Laravel, Symfony) and can hit the ground running.

  • Analytical Mindset: A natural problem-solver, you enjoy tackling complex technical challenges and coming up with effective solutions.

  • Communication Skills: You can translate “tech-speak” into everyday language to keep non-technical teammates in the loop.

  • Mastery of multitasking: Skilled at juggling multiple projects in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.

Nice to have…

  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.

  • Experience with C# in addition to PHP.
