Your typical day at fonQ…
09:00: Stand up: You start the day with a stand-up, where you’re the go-to person for all Shopify frontend-related updates.
09:30: hands-on work: Building a new theme section, fixing a styling issue, or tweaking meta-fields so products display correctly.
11:00: Stakeholder Meeting: You join a quick session with the e-commerce team to align on a new feature and make sure the UX will work within Shopify’s theme framework. Since you’re the only dedicated Shopify frontend developer, colleagues often reach out to you for advice on Liquid, theme structure, or Shopify best practices.
12:00 – Lunch Break Unlimited and very affordable lunch. What’s more, you can enjoy it on our rooftop terrace!
13:30 – Code Review and push updates: You review code and push updates through Git, making sure everything is performant and user-friendly. You might also collaborate with backend developers to integrate data from an app or API into the storefront.
16:30 – Wrap-Up and Planning for Next Day: The day wraps up with testing recent changes in the staging environment, documenting updates, and preparing priorities for tomorrow.
Your key responsibilities include but not limited to…
Develop, test, and maintain Shopify storefronts (themes, templates, and sections).
Implement Liquid, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript (ES6+) to build responsive and accessible UI.
Collaborate with designers and product managers to translate UI/UX into Shopify themes.
Configure and manage metafields, metaobjects, and dynamic content for product and collection pages.
Ensure performance optimization, SEO best practices, and cross-browser compatibility.
Integrate Shopify with third-party apps and APIs on the frontend level (e.g., scripts, data rendering, custom sections).
Work closely with backend developers to support app integrations and data flows when needed.
Participate in code reviews, focusing on maintainability and frontend performance.

Education
HBO or WO level of education or you've got equivalent working experience in software engineering that proves you know your stuff!
Experience:
4+ years of professional experience in Shopify frontend development.
Strong proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS/SCSS.
Understanding of Shopify APIs (REST, GraphQL, Webhooks) for frontend data rendering.
Backend knowledge (Node.js, PHP, or similar) to collaborate on Shopify app development or API/webhook integrations.
Experience with analytics and tracking (GA4, GTM, Meta Pixel).
Skills and ability to work:
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple projects.
Good communication skills, able to explain technical topics to non-technical colleagues.
Nice to have…
Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP or AWS) and CI/CD pipelines
